Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

If this was posed, I would have thought the shirt might have looked simple and clean. The hat is a wide-brimmed version of the one I often wear to work outside. The difference is mine does not have a new rip in the brim.
ReplyDeleteIt seems thet this is a posed picture, but I can't decide what the photographer is trying to depict. Like beauty, it must be in the eye of the beholder.
What about sunbonnets, they were simple, I remember my great grandmother wearing them.
ReplyDeleteI know I have seen this photo before, but can't remember where. I'm thinking it was on OPOD.
ReplyDeleteI agree with AL, it is posed, but I don't like the looks of the shirt, whick looks dirty and wrinkled, and the hat torn for the photo shot.
But she is a pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is a publicity still for a play or movie? The pretty girl, peasant outfit, quality photo combo is confusing. The shot has a coca-cola girl flavor. Does the watermark at the lower left reveal anything?
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis whole series of hat photos is just wonderful. What delightful and beautiful photographs. With all our new photographic technology, we still be hard-pressed to exceed the quality of these shots.
ReplyDeleteFirst hat in here that isn't hopelessly weird.
ReplyDeleteIf the girl wasn't so pretty she would look quite poor and unkempt.
