Wonderful 1909 image of the Farman Flying Machine in flight. I love how the men in the foreground are waving their hats in celebration.

About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

WOW! What a great photo! So many older photos are stiff and posed. I love the candids. The body language with the hats is wonderful. Almost feels like we were there! Can you imagine how exciting that was?
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on old posts - thanks again for sharing.
I agree . . . this is one of my favorite pictures. It really captures the excitement of the early days of flight.
